In July, Apaixonarte will open its gallery to conscious design. From the 8th to the 20th of July, the designer Sandra Guerreiro illuminates us with the installation JOGOS DE LUZ. From the 21st of July to the 3rd of August, we will have an exhibition of the most outstanding pieces by 9 artisans, represented by Loulé Design Lab.
JOGOS DE LUZ (LIGHT GAMES)
Sandra Guerreiro intends to enlighten us on the increasingly urgent need for reuse. The fashion designer exchanges the mannequins for LED lamps and creates pieces through plastic bags, advertising posters and fabric waste, which involve light. The body of each piece can be used and adapted to different shapes, thus controlling the light intensity. A scenic space where the spectator is invited to co-create with the designer.
It was during her fashion design training at IADE that she co-founded 03.27.19, an upcycling fashion brand.
In her trajectory, it is worth mentioning the participation in the 1st Bienal of Young Creators of the CPLP countries, the collaboration with Experimenta Design, and the creation and coordination of a specialized training of Wardrobe of the 18th century, for the National Palace of Queluz.
In 2004, in the transition from her collective fashion project to individual work, the designer explored other aspects of design and linked them to the reuse of materials such as plastic bags and recycled papers. Wallets, suitcases, and lamps materialized her creativity and concern with the waste of natural resources. After a year, her work was part of a selection of pieces that represented Portugal at EXPO2005 in Aichi, Japan. Her pieces were sold, from an early age, in Portugal and Europe.
After a break of several years she decided to return to this project. This time, she explores new lighting options and integrates the viewer, in the sense that all the pieces can be reinterpreted and combined by whoever acquires them.
Opening – July 8, from 6pm until 8.30pm
