A poesia de cada dia – Joana R. Sá
Joana R. Sá is a multidisciplinary portuguese artist, born in Mirandela (1993). She spent most of her life in Faro, where she currently resides and where she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts and a Postgraduate degree in Visual and Performative Arts at the University of Algarve. Later, she obtained a Master’s degree in Fine Arts – Specialization in Drawing at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Digital Media Art at the University of Algarve and the Universidade Aberta.
Her work unfolds through drawing as an expanded field, conceptually embracing a rhizomatic approach that explores methodologies of deviation, gesture, memory, code, and language. Through a visual alphabet—records of indecipherable codes from her innermost self—her artistic process oscillates between encounters and misencounters, constructions and deconstructions, territorializations and deterritorializations, materializations and dematerializations, noise and harmony, memory and oblivion.
Since 2013, she has participated in several exhibitions, including solo shows such as Nuvens de Ruído (2022, Associação 289), Entre Mundos (2023, Apaixonarte), and AREPO (2024, Galeria Praça do Mar), as well as numerous group exhibitions, among which Synchronicity (2022, Plataforma Revólver), Noroeste-Sudeste: Novas Perspectivas no Desenho (2019, Fundação Júlio Resende: No Lugar do Desenho), 289 – Um Projeto de Pedro Cabrita Reis (2018, Associação 289), and Octagonal (2017, Galeria Trem) stand out.
She is currently an artist-in-residence at Associação 289 (Faro) and is represented by Apaixonarte (Lisbon).
