Azulejos – Vitor Hugo Matos
Vitor Hugo Matos had his academic training in Porto in 2004. His academic works were selected for exhibitions, including at Archilab. His first 5 years of professional life were spent in Porto and after 3 years in Barcelona he moved to Lisbon in 2010, also co-authoring projects in the last 14 years as a collaborator in a architecture studio in Lisbon. He was a professor of project methodology at the Lisbon School of Design. In parallel, he is an illustrator, having illustrated school manuals and children’s books, one of which was awarded the Caminhos de Leitura 2022 Seal and selected to be in the DGLAB pavilion, being present at book fairs, including the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. One of his books was selected for the National Reading Plan 2027. He collaborates with UPA Editora, Livros Horizonte, Porto Editora, Penguin Random House and Nuvem de Letras. He was distinguished in 2023 by the New York magazine 3×3 Magazine with a merit award for his illustrations. He gives illustration workshops for children and has been invited to participate in illustration, painting and architecture exhibitions. He is currently represented by O´Galeria and Padaria Águas Furtadas in Porto, by Apaixonarte, Nova Banca Galeria and Cebola Atelier in Lisbon. At the end of 2024 he decided to take the leap and found TILD atelier. He has experience in the conception of concepts, studies and preparation of projects in different phases and scales ranging from the object to the city, from the building to public space, and urban planning. Having been involved in more than 300 projects over more than 20 years of working experience in architecture. Creativity and work capacity are what best define him professionally.

Ao longo dos anos foram demolindo as casas de Lisboa que tinham azulejos lindíssimos na fachada. Os azulejos eram partidos, destruídos. Eu, quando passava por uma obra destas, apanhava do chão fragmentos de azulejos. Enfeitei as minhas estantes com estes bocadinhos de azulejos. Fica lindo, muito colorido, brilhante, mas é trágico.
