Ibuko is the work of Sara Ko, a self-taught botanical painter from Canada who lives in Alentejo, Portugal. Previously working for NGOs focused on education and rural development in Haiti, she learned about the importance of human connection to nature.
Sara mixes a whimsical style with a scientific approach. She begins the process by deeply studying each theme, which allows her to explore its expression and movement throughout the process. Her dream is to paint a wild garden for all of us to rest in.
“ibu” (“mother” in malay) + “ko” 高 (father’s family name).
